The United Kingdom has congratulated the President Elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at the 2023 election.
The UK Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly, in a statement commended Nigerian voters for their participation in the Presidential and National Assembly elections and their resilience in exercising their democratic rights.
It says the UK notes the position of opposition parties on the election outcome and the concerns expressed by observer missions as well as civil society on the organisation of the process, including delays and technical challenges.
The statement encourages the authorities to examine all concerns carefully and take action to resolve outstanding issues while focusing on delivering the will of the Nigerian people.
