
Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey had alleged that the company was threatened with a shut down in India were an “outright lie”, the country’s deputy minister for information technology said on Tuesday.

According to Dorsey, Twitter was threatened with being shut down in India, Nigeria, and Turkey unless it complied with requests to restrict accounts.
India wanted to limit the use of the social media network by journalists and demonstrators.
Rajeev Chandrashekhar, India’s Federal Deputy Minister for Information Technology, claimed that Twitter had repeatedly broken Indian law and had only begun to do so as of June 2022.
According to Twitter, India was fourth worldwide in terms of the quantity of requests made by a government last year.
According to Twitter, India last year was ranked at number four in terms of how many requests were made by governments to remove content after Japan, Russia and Turkey.
