
A new feature by WhatsApp will now automatically silence calls from unknown numbers.
This development is sequel to multiple complaints from India where the app has over 500 million users, of a hike in spam calls.
The privacy feature that would allow users to silence calls from unknown contacts on the platform, thus, giving them better control over their privacy.
“Today, we’re excited to add two new updates to this growing list: Silence Unknown Callers and Privacy Checkup, which are available to users now”, the company said on Tuesday.
Mark Zuckerberg Chief Executive Officer of Facebook said “You can now automatically silence incoming calls from unknown contacts on WhatsApp for even more privacy and control”.
Guide on using the new feature
Users can activate this feature by;
- Going to Settings
- Clicking on Privacy
- Clicking on Calls
- Selecting the “Silence unknown caller” option.
