
The US Mission in Nigeria has celebrated the 247th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America .
At the event in Abuja, the Charge d’Affaires of the United States Mission in Nigeria Mr David Greene says the U.S government is always ready to work with Nigeria to realize the visions of its citizens.
Greene who said achieving the visions of democracy has been a tough journey for both Nigeria and the United States, recounted the challenges in Nigeria’s recent elections, stressed that hard work was required to preserve democratic principles and values.
The Charge d’Affaires of the United States Mission in Nigeria also reiterated the support of the U.S government to the administration of President Bola Tinubu adding that the U.S government had always supported Nigeria with many positive impacts across several sectors including agriculture, health, security, economy, information technology, and renewable energy, among others.
Speaking on behalf of the Federal Government, the Director, International Organizations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Samson Itegboje, congratulated the U.S and its citizens on the occasion of their independence.
He said U.S democracy had set a good precedence for many countries of the world, and appreciated it for the support rendered to Nigeria during the just concluded elections.
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio expreesed the readiness of the 10th Assembly to preserving and protecting democracy in the country.
