
The member representing Jajere Constituency, Chiroma Mashio has been elected unopposed as Speaker of the 8th Yobe State House of Assembly.
Chiroma Mashio has been in the Yobe State House of Assembly since 1999.
With a 24-year legislative experience, Mashio served in various capacity including Chairing the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation in the 7th Assembly.
Other Principal Officers elected include Ya’u Usman-Dachia from the Jakusko constituency as Deputy Speaker, Nasiru Hassan-Yusuf from Damaturu I constituency House Leader and Hassan Muhammad-Yusufari Deputy House Leader.
Others are Muhammed Auwal Bello Chief Whip and Ahmed Musa-Dumbol Deputy Chief Whip.
In his acceptance speech Chiroma Mashio pledged to operate an open-door policy for meaningful legislative activities to support the other Arms of government and to serve the people of Yobe state better.
