The Police in Sokoto State has commenced investigation into the killing of one Usman Buda by his colleagues for alleged blasphemy.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Sokoto Command, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i said the victim- a Muslim was mobbed and attacked by some Muslims who inflicted serious injuries on him.
The PPRO said on receiving the information, the Commissioner of Police, Area Commander Metro, and DPO Kwanni led a team of policemen to the abattoir where the incident occurred, upon arrival, the mob escaped the scene and left the victim unconscious.
He said the victim was rescued and taken to Usmanu Danfodio Teaching Hospital Sokoto for treatment and was later confirmed dead at the hospital.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, Ali Hayatu Kaigama has appealed to members of the public to go about their lawful activities and should not panic as the situation is under control.
Also, the State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu called on the people to remain calm, assuring them of the safety of lives and property in the State.
