Meta has introduced new parental supervision tools and privacy features to its platforms; Instagram, Messenger and Facebook.
This features aims to protect teens from safety risks such as bullying, abuse and harassment thereby restricting users from messaging people who don not follow them.
The tool which is optional requires minors and their guardians to opt in to enable supervision of the teen’s account. It also notifies users after 20 minutes of usage to take a break.
The new features will let parents set time limits and see who their child follows or being followed.
However it does not let parent see contents of messages sent and received.
