
Dr Yakubu Baba, the Registrar, Environmental Health Council of Nigeria has advocated a more coordinated approach to curbing the menace of solid waste in the country.
During a town hall meeting in Abuja, Dr Baba pointed out that the council had been engaged in building local capacity in the useful conversion of plastic waste.
The Swedish Ambassador in Nigeria, Annika Han-Englude expressed her country’s readiness to improve Nigeria’s economy through better waste management initiatives.
Also, the Acting Director FCT Fire Service, Mr Adebayo Amiola advised residents of the Federal Capital Territory to adopt more sustainable means of waste disposal.
On open defecation, the Head Living Earth Media Foundation, Tracey Uzoigwe called for more efforts by the government and the people to end menace.
