The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB has barred Mmesoma Ejikeme who was accused of forging her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination result from taking the board’s examinations for three years.
The Board also insisted that Mmesoma Ejikeme forged her result adding that the board concluded high-level investigations before coming to the conclusion.
The spokesperson of JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in a statement released on Tuesday said the management of the Board, after considering the weighty infraction committed by Ms. Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, and in line with its established procedures, has withdrawn her 2023 UTME result and also barred her from sitting the Board’s examination for the next three years.
The statement said: “In the meantime, the management of the board, after considering the weighty infraction committed by Ms. Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, in line with its established procedures, has withdrawn her 2023 UTME result.
“It has also barred her from sitting for the board’s examination for the next three years.”
Dr Benjamin reiterated the board’s earlier position that the UTME result being paraded by Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma was fake saying the candidates’ account was an attempt to re-write the truth.
Mmesoma Ejikeme had in a video released on monday insisted that she did not forge her result as claimed by the examination board stressing that she printed the result from the JAMB portal and the aggregate score obtained was 362.
Meanwhile, a former minister of Education Obiageli Ezekwesili, has demanded an independent forensic investigation over the trending saga between Mmesoma Ejikeme and the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB.
Ezekwesili said listening to Mmesoma in the video, where she narrated her own side of the story, shows it is reasonable to request a forensic-investigation to help reveal what really happened.
An Abuja based Human Rights lawyer, Jude Julius said the decision of the board to bar the Ms. Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma was hasty, stressing that an independent investigation would have been conducted before passing judgement that she was guilty.
Another respondent, Rosemary Obinna noted that Ms Ejikeme could be a victim of circumstances.
