Kaduna State Government has partnered Google to train 5,000 women and girls in data science, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurial application of digital technologies.
According to a statement by the governor’s chief press secretary, Mohammed Shehu, the initiative is to empower 20,000 more women and young people in Nigeria with 21st-century skills.
It stated that, the initiative was crafted to serve four key semi-urban and rural communities in Kaduna State, offering specialists women-focused learning, mentoring, and job placement support facilities.
“The partnership with Google underscores the state government commitment to harnessing the vast potential of women for the socio-economic transformation of Kaduna State and Nigeria at large”, it noted.
The Google Director for West Africa, Olumide Balogun, said the future of tech in Nigeria hinges on tapping into the potential of every individual, irrespective of gender.

Adding that the Governor, Uba Sani has set up a Committee to ensure the effective implementation of the initiative which would be executed by Data Science Nigeria.
The Committee will be headed by the Commissioner Business Innovation and Technology Mrs. Patience Fakai
