
Delta State government has approved ten billion naira as Social Investment to fund palliatives for residents of the state.
This was part of decisions reached at the maiden State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at Government House, Asaba.
Briefing newsmen at the end of the meeting, the State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Reuben Izeze, said the N10 billion social investment palliatives fund bill would be forwarded to the State House of Assembly for approval.
Mr Izeze said the State Executive Council also approved the payment of the 2023 counterpart fund for the Universal Basic Education Programme and for the hosting of the seventh Edition of the National Youth Games in the state.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Sonny Ekedayen, disclosed that the State Executive Council approved the sum of N167 billion as 2023 supplementary budget proposal, to be forwarded to the State House of Assembly for approval.
This is the second 2023 Supplementary Budget proposal by the Delta State government following the N71 billion supplementary budget approved by the State House of Assembly in April, this year, during the immediate past administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
