
Members of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru has been urged live up to responsibilities by enhancing societal development across all spheres of the country.
This was the submissions of some Nigeria’s former Military Head of State, Generals Ibrahim Gbadamosi Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubarka to ALUMNI members of NIPSS Executive Course SEC 43 during their re-union in Abuja
Former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida appreciated the Alumni members of NIPSS Executive Course SEC 43, for devoting their time and resources to strengthening the course of unity and national development.
Represented by Mukhtar Galadima, General Babangida said the future of the country lies in the hands of the participants hence the need for them to rededicate themselves to the daunting task of ensuring a more stable and functional democratic society.
”We only need to keep reminding ourselves of the magnitude of the national calling since we are all expected to be strategic engineers of a functional socio-political, economic and democratic order whose benefits would be enjoyed by every living Nigerian.”
On his part, General Abdulsalami Abubakar represented by Brigadier-General Solomon Yinuwa, affirmed that the reunion of SEC 43 was a move in the right direction owing to the fact that the country could only achieve greatness through collective efforts of stakeholders.
”I can quickly confirm that the combination of the themes of your course and that of your re-union is particularly relevant in today’s Nigeria. The whole idea is that all hands must be on deck, particularly the think tanks like National Institute, if we must get things done.”
The Monitor General of the Senior Executive Course 43, Colonel Mustapha Anka and the General Secretary, Oracle Nwala also shared the same view with the former military heads of state as they stressed that members need to kick the ball rolling through community engagements and informed decisions.
89 Nigerians participated in the 2021 Senior Executive Course, out of which three of them have been appointed as Permanent Secretaries, Four are now Assistant Inspector Generals of Police, AIG while some have been appointed Directors of agencies including the Director News, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ms Husseina Akila and as the National Deputy President of the Guild of Editors.
The National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies Kuru, founded in 1979, is a policy formation center for bureaucrats, private sector leaders, military officers, and medium-rank and senior civil servants.
