The Spain’s men’s players have described as unacceptable the behaviour of Federation President Luis Rubiales.
Rubiales, 46, has been wisely condemned after kissing a player Jenni Hermoso on the lips following the Spanish Women’s World Cup win aganist England on August 20.
Luis Rubiales has repeatedly refused to resign over the kiss, which Hermoso said was not consensual.
In a statement by Spain forward, Alvaro Morata on behalf of the squad reads “We want to reject what we consider unacceptable behaviour on the part of Mr Rubiales, who has not lived up to the institution he represents,”
“We firmly and unequivocally stand on the side of the values that this sport represents”, it said.
“Spanish football must be a driving force for respect, inspiration, inclusion, and diversity and must set an example with its behaviour both on and off the field.”
The governing body of football FIFA has provisionally suspended Luis Rubiales
A case of misconduct has been opened against Rubiales by the Spain’s national sports tribunal (TAD)
