The Ogun State Government has demolished partly DATKEM Plaza in the Ijebu Ode area of the state, belonging to the wife of former governor, Mrs Olufunke Daniel.
The government claims that the five-storey building was illegally situated and violated the state’s physical planning laws.
On Sunday, the building was partially demolished due to numerous defects and a lack of stage certification.
The government had served the owners with notices to stop development and demolish the building between May and October 2022, but they were ignored.
In a statement signed by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Adeyinka Kotoye, of PAGE Law Office, says despite court papers being served on its agents, the government proceeded with the demolition.
