The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Taraba state chapter has expressed sadness over the nefarious activities of kidnappers in the State.
Rev. Dr Isaiah Magaji Jirapye, the State Chairman in a statement said the activities of the kidnappers were targeted at Clergymen and their families.
Recently there have been reports of kidnappers storming the residence of a clergy with ECWA church in Mile six, Jalingo, and many others.
The statement alleged that the abductors made it clear that the Clergy was their target, noting that last Sunday another Clergy with the CRC-N was abducted in his station at Tudun Haske, a village in Donga Local Government area of the State alongside his family members and others.
CAN condemned the act and called on the government to make the security of lives and property of citizens a priority especially the church, as they are now the soft target of the kidnappers.
It also expressed worry that local communities and villages were no longer safe as they are attacked frequently by bad elements without caution and regard for humanity.
CAN further called on the government to prioritize the security of the local communities across the state, adding that security presence should be felt in the communities.
The Association also urged the people to support security agencies with intelligence that will uncover the hideouts of the criminals in their midst.
CAN said the need for prayers for the mercy of God upon the land cannot be overemphasized and called on the Christian faithful to raise family altars and cry to God for a permanent solution to banditry and kidnappings in the country.
