Reacting to the judgement on his X handle, the President said the ruling has further consolidated the country’s democracy and constitution.
He maintained that the Justices attended to the matter presented before it without fear or favour.
President Tinubu pointed out that he had never for once doubted the competence of the nation’s judiciary, believing always that they will deliver justice to all Nigerians in all matters.
According to the President, the Renewed Hope agenda for a greater and prosperous Nigeria has further gained momentum as he will continue to work continuously to build a country that meets the collective yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.
The President called on Nigerians to unite as an indivisible family to work and build the country together, stating that the nation’s diversity must be a reason compelling Nigerians to build a virile, stronger, united, and more prosperous country.
PDP expressed disappointment
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the Supreme Court judgement, as disappointing, insisting that the apex court has failed Nigerians.
The party in a statement maintained that it is appalled by the judgment of the Supreme Court in the petition filed by the PDP and its Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar against the declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Bola Ahmed Tinubu as winners of the February 25, 2023 Presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the statement by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, Nigerians are still at a loss as to how the Supreme Court condoned the serious issues of alleged forgery, falsehood and perjury on the altar of technicalities.
He said majority of Nigerians are sad that the Supreme Court’s position was against the clear provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), the Electoral Act, 2022, the Guideline and Regulation issued by INEC under which the election was conducted.
The PDP asserted that it was indeed a sad commentary for Nigeria’s democracy that the Supreme Court failed to uphold the provisions of the law.
