
Controversial singer Azeez Fashola ‘Naira Marley’, and socialite, Samson Eletu, alias ‘Sam Larry’ have filed a suit challenging their “continued detention” over the death of singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias ‘Mohbad’.
The duo are individually demanding N20 million damages from the police and the Lagos magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, over their continued detention in police custody.
The controversial singer and the socialite joined the police and the Lagos magistrate as defendants in the suit filed before the Federal High Court in Lagos.
Naira Marley and Sam Larry, on the order of the magistrate were remanded in police custody for 21 days over the death of 27-year-old Mohbad who died earlier in September.
Counsel to Naira Marley and Sam Larry, Olalekan Ojo (SAN) on national TV said, both defendants were urging the court to declare that the continued detention constituted a violation of their fundamental rights.
They contend that the magistrate had ordered their remand for just 21 days which had elapsed. They are demanding “an order of the court releasing the applicants forthwith.”
The death of Ilerioluwa Aloba ‘Mohbad’ on September 12, 2023 has been one of the most controversial celebrity demise of recent as it continues to implicate family members, his former record label and even his friends.
