Jude Bellingham and Levi Colwill will not be part of the England squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia, as both players are sidelined with shoulder injuries.
Real Madrid midfielder Bellingham and Chelsea defender Colwill join a growing list of absentees, with five players now ruled out of Gareth Southgate’s initial squad for the upcoming matches on November 17 and 20.
On Monday, Cole Palmer, Ezri Konsa, and Rico Lewis were called up to replace the injured James Maddison, Callum Wilson, and Lewis Dunk.
In addition to the injury-related withdrawals, Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford and Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips will join the squad later in the week for personal reasons.
Manager Gareth Southgate has decided not to make any further additions to the squad for the matches against Malta at Wembley on Friday and the trip to North Macedonia on Monday.
Despite the absentees, England has already secured qualification for the European Championship next summer.
A single additional victory in the upcoming qualifiers will guarantee them the top spot in Group C and secure their place as one of the top seeds in the tournament hosted by Germany.
