
The Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy is to generate up to $20 billion and create about 2 million jobs on an annual basis.
According to experts, the untapped potential within the Marine and Blue Economy sector is estimated to be around $296 billion.
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy who was represented by his technical aide, Professor Busayo Fakindele disclosed this at the first Abuja Investment Summit and Expo.
According to Prof Fakindele, plans were underway by the ministry to host a roundtable for key stakeholders in the sector in order to chart a course for Nigeria’s potential in the Blue Economy.
“As we work towards completing key port projects like Ibom, Badagry, Ondo, Snake Island, Bonny, Burutu Sea Ports, the Funtua Dry Port, Lokoja River Port and Jos Inland Dry Port, we anticipate the creation of new economic hubs, increased employment opportunities, and improved goods movement, all of which will contribute significantly to our nation’s growth and development”, he said.
