
Israeli forces have penetrated Gaza’s largest hospital in what the IDF describes as a concentrated assault.
According to witness, commando forces entered the main emergency department and went from room to room questioning people, but there is presently no shooting in the hospital area.
Israel accuses Hamas of operating a command center in tunnels beneath the hospital, and the US claims to have intelligence to back up the accusation.
Hamas denies this, claiming that the hospital raid was a war crime in which hundreds of civilians were sheltering with patients.
The Hamas-run health ministry says more than 11,000 people have been killed in Gaza.
According to the White House, people and patients must be safeguarded, and “we do not want to see a firefight in a hospital.”
Following Hamas’s 7 October strikes, Israel resumed bombing Gaza.
