The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the National Model Creche and Nursery in Abuja, a workplace nursery for working mothers named after former First Lady Mrs Victoria Gowon.
During the commissioning ceremony in Abuja, the First Lady emphasized the administration’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for working and nursing mothers.
“What we are doing today is a testament of the fact that Nigeria, under this present administration of His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is gender-friendly and particularly favorable to the female gender and we are very pleased with him. We all need to support adequate breastfeeding as it aids mother-child bonding, prevents sicknesses and this creche will help in achieving that,” She stated.
Represented by the Wife of the Vice President, Nana Kashim Shettima, Senator Tinubu pledged to promote empowerment and uplift women.
“This crèche will assist nursing mothers working in the ministry to effectively take care of their children while working. It will serve as a foundation for progress and a promising future for our nation towards improved bonding between mothers and their children”
The Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Kennedy-Ohanenye, expressed the ministry’s dedication to creating a conducive environment for women.
The facility will be known as Victoria Gowon National Model Workplace Nursery
