
The Delta State Government has assured the Delta State Police command and other security agencies across the state of technical and other needed assistance to help curb incidents of security challenges in the state.
The state Commissioner for Information, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza stated this, Tuesday, during a courtesy visit on him by a team from the Delta Police command led by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe in Asaba.
According to the Commissioner, security is the responsibility for all, not just the police alone, just as he frowned at fake security reports from unknown faces masking themselves as reporters.
He said that as the Commissioner for Information he had called several meetings with different stakeholders in the media industry, especially government appointees on media to address destructive false reports as he assured the PPRO of the sanity that has been achieved in terms of ensuring what he called truthful news reports.
Dr Osuoza assured the PPRO that his office was open for the Force at any time, while seeking for clarification as they work for the safety of Deltans, which is a top priority of the present administration.
The Commissioner decried the persistent kidnappings, citing the recent abduction of the former Commissioner for Technical Education in the state, Hon Joan Onyemeachi. He pleaded with Deltans and residents to be more vigilant so as to ensure their safety at all times.
He warned reporters, especially online reporters and social media users to report the situation as they happened to avoid causing unnecessary panic in the hearts of Deltans.
Osuoza assured them of his readiness whenever the need arises as he charged the force to call both online and conventional reporters for briefing from time to time.
Earlier, the police team led by SP Bright Edafe, intimated the Commissioner that they were in his office because of the fake reports they read on daily basis which undermined the true situation of security of the state, especially as, according to him, these reports come from information officers and government appointees.

He said that Nigerians should be patriotic in reporting happenings in the country as he charged them to applaud the police force when they effectively deal with crime as he appealed against destruction of public utilities while on peaceful protest
The PPRO used the medium to congratulate the Commissioner on his well-deserved appointment and promised to work with him as a team to form a stronger alliance against false social media influencers.
The police team was received by the Commissioner, functioning permanent secretary, Mrs. Theresa Adiabua-Oliko, and other directors of the ministry of information.
