The Delta State Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, has urged Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs) in the 25 local government areas of the state to discharge their duties with honesty and accountability and embrace team work
Dr. Ashibogwu gave the charge during an interactive session with the CIEs in Asaba in preparation for the 2024/2025 Academic Session billed to commence in September.
He said that the purpose of the interactive session was to remind them of their core duties as educationists, adding that as the representatives of the Ministry at the local government level, they should be committed to their responsibility.
Dr. Ashibogwu, who told the CIEs to ensure cordial working relationships with stakeholders in their LGAs, reminded them that they should always be good ambassadors of the Ministry and thus deliver their assignment with high level of integrity.
He warned against extorting parents for admission of their children in the forthcoming academic calendar, stressing that admission was free just as he enjoined them to pass the information to all school heads in their local government areas.
While admonishing them to sustain the tempo of successes they had recorded in the last academic session, Ashibogwu also said that his Ministry would ensure uniformity in all its examination timetable.
In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary in Ministries of Primary and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro explained that with the termination of the third term of the last academic session, the meeting was crucial as a prelude to the commencement of the 2024/2025 academic session.
Oghoro said that the Ministry of Primary Education has continued to prioritize their welfare, emphasizing that they should be more dedicated to their duty as the 2024/2025 academic session is set to begin in September.
He noted that heads of schools should relate with their host communities to ensure that school facilities were secured and hinted that the school calendar would soon be out.
Earlier in their various remarks, some of the Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs) who spoke lauded the Commissioner and the Permanent Secretary for consistently interfacing with the CIEs with a view to appraising their strengths and weaknesses.
They presented their challenges in their various offices to the Commissioner, saying that they were in good working relationship with their local government areas.
The CIEs for Ethiope East, Mr. Joseph Eghwujovwo, Isoko North, Mr. Onoriode Zerigbe and their counterpart for Oshimili North, Mrs. Roseline Anya, used the opportunity to thank the Ministry for providing a befitting office accommodation for them.
In attendance were the Directors of Planning, Research and Statistics, Comr. Ernest Ossai, the Director of Examinations, Mrs. Clementina Ojumah, and other Directors in the ministry.
