
Delta State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza has described constructive journalism as the bedrock of a well-informed society which plays a pivotal role in shaping public opinion, holding leaders accountable, and fostering transparency and good governance in any society.
Speaking in Asaba on Thursday while declaring open a two-day training workshop organized by the Delta State Printing and Publishing Corporation, publishers of the state-owned Pointer Newspapers, the Information Commissioner described the training as timely and crucial as it would enhance the quality of journalism in the state and beyond.

Dr. Osuoza, represented at the event by the Functioning Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Mrs. Theresa Oliko, emphasized the need to equip journalists with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the complexities of modern-day reporting.
Osuoza expressed the hope that the training would enhance the ability of the participants to develop new techniques of ethical journalism and improved standards.
In his welcome remarks, General Manager of the Delta Printing and Publishing Corporation, Mr. Godfrey Ubaka, stated that journalists were lifetime students whose quest for knowledge should be lifelong. This further underscores the critical place of continuous capacity building in the life of the journalist.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Board of the company, Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, expressed appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his passion for training as is evidenced in the present administration’s MORE agenda.
Okorodudu stressed that training of staff members of the organization was a sure way of keeping them abreast of new trends in the industry.
