
As part of efforts to curb violence and restore peace to Udurhie quarters of Oghareki, Pastor Godwin Akpovie,a stakeholder in the area, has liaised with otherstakeholders to restore normalcy in the area, urging the youths in the locality to stop the fight, shun violence, and embrace peace so as to restore normalcy to the community.
Pastor Akpovie appealed to the different factions of the Udurhie youth body to sheath their swords and give peace a chance in the face of renewed hostilities.
He reiterated that he would play his role along with other relevant stakeholders in the Community and the Government to address all their concerns in no distant time, to restore back the relative peace the community once enjoyed.
It would be recalled that as crisis erupted among the youths of Udurhie Community, in Oghareki over issues of succession, which led to the unfortunate death of 3 persons barely three months ago.
It was on record that before the incident, Akpoviecreated time and held various meetings at different times with some of the main actors which include Mr. Abel Festus (Tompolo), Mr. Keneghe Ejomafuigho(Ogboru)of blessed memory, including Mr. Ahmed and it was made known that they all gave him their commitment to maintain peace except for one.
“I want to appeal to all our youths to cease fire, shun violence, and embrace peace. We cannot afford to lose any of our youths again, or watch this continuous destruction of properties,”Akpovie stated.
While commending the traditional ruler of Oghara, HRM, Noble Eshemitan, Orefe 111, the OgharekiTraditional Council of Chiefs led by Chief Andrew Arikeri, Ethiope West Local Government Chairman, Hon Christian Onogba, and the Security Agencies, especially the DPO of Oghara for the role they have played thus far, Pastor Akpovie urged them to be unbiased while addressing all concerns and do more to restore normalcy to the land.
