The Delta State Government has assured the recruitment team from the Nigerian Army Headquarters of its commitment to ensure that youths in the State enroll into the ongoing 88th regular recruitment exercise into the Army for Trades/Non-Trades-Men.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu made this known today during a visit by the team from the Army Headquarters led by Brigadier General Nwito Nzidee in his office in Asaba.
Dr. Emu stated that the Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, was deeply committed to making sure that more youths in the State get recruited into the military and other paramilitary services
He said this was why the Governor set up a committeeon awareness creation on youth enlistment in the military and paramilitary services with the Commissioner for Youth Development as the Chairman with other members drawn from relevant government agencies to sensitize youths on the opportunity they stand to gain when they join the military and other para- military agencies.
The SSG equally noted that there was some improvement in the last recruitment exercise as a lot of sensitisation was carried out by the Committee but urged them to do more so that more youth in the State would be aware of the recruitment exercise and take advantage of it.
Earlier, the leader of the Team, Brigadier General Wilto said they were in the State for a sensitization exercise and called on the State government to do more in getting the Youths in the State to register in the online recruitment portal of the Nigerian Army.
He stated that States that were unable to fill their quota were the greatest losers as applications from interested States will be used to fill the spaces that other States could not fill up which will be a disadvantage to the State in the long run.
The online application, which began on the 30th of September 2024, will end on the 8th of November, 2024.
