
Corps members serving in Delta State have been charged to promote core national values of right moral behaviour.
The Director-General of the Delta State Orientation and Communication Bureau, Dr. Wilfred Oghenesivbe gave the charge when he led the management team of the Bureau on a courtesy visit to the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the State, Mr. Olusegun Alao, in his office in Asaba.
Oghenesivbe stated that the visit was to synergize with the NYSC in the area of promoting the new national values recently adopted by the National Orientation Agency to help promote moral rectitude and behavioural change, especially among the youth.
He stated that the Bureau would, during its sensitization campaigns to schools, engage corpsmembers serving in schools to drive the process of value orientation.
He added that the Orientation Bureau is set to promote the core national values to help redirect minds of Deltans in line with attitudinal change for a better society.
He said that the Bureau would spice up the national values with state values to build a better Delta State, where the people uphold the values of patriotism, honesty, tolerance, unity, service, fulfilment of civic responsibilities among others as enshrined in the National Anthem.
He disclosed that the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is committed to the vision of building a better state and is ready to improve the workforce in the Bureau for better service delivery.
Responding, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr.Olusegun Alao, congratulated the Orientation DG, Barr. Oghenesivbe on his elevation to the position of Director-General of the State Orientation and Communication Bureau, adding that he was confident that he would use his wealth of experience to take the Bureau to greater heights, and in turn positively reorientate the minds of Deltans, especially the youth.
He said the NYSC was open for partnership and would key into the new national values and the principles embedded in the new national anthem, and was ready to project government policies and programmes in the state.
The coordinator also emphasized the need for the Corps to be part of the programmes of the Bureau to achieve the same goals.
