The Delta State Internal Revenue Service, DSIRS, has encouraged Deltans to pay their taxes as that would help the state government in its drive for accelerated infrastructural development.
Chairman of the Revenue Service, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata made the call when officials of the revenue service appeared before the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation for the defence of its year 2025 budget proposals.
Ighrakpata, who was represented by the Executive Director of Operations, Dr Frank Nwugo, explained that in the current year the state government has made effective use of taxpayer money for the development of the state.
While commending the State Legislature for standing by the Service, the former lawmaker appreciated state-recognized whistleblowers and security outfits for their continued collaboration.
Hon Ighrakpata said in 2025 the board intends to motivate companies who had been faithful with their taxes and asked the defaulting companies not to stretch government patience further.
Ighrakpata assured Deltans that in 2025 the State Revenue Service would ensure that it continued to play its part in providing the much-needed tax revenues to ensure that the state government continues to provide more infrastructure for the benefit of residents of the state.
The budget defence session was presided over by the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation and member representing Ika North East Constituency, Hon Marylyn Okowa-Daramola, flanked by other members of the Committee
