As the mantle of leadership of the Delta State Ministry of Information officially changed hands today, putting to rest the weekend-long speculation in media circles in the state, the supervisory commissioner of the ministry of information and commissioner for works (Rural and Urban Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has dispelled rumours of Governor Oborevwori’s planned defection to the opposition All-Progressives Congress in the state.
At a well-attended press briefing which took place at the conference hall of the Ministry of Information, Mr. Aniagwu dismissed the rumours as baseless as he said Oborevwori was a proud member of the PDP with “both his feet on the ground.”
While reeling out the developmental achievements of the administration in the different sectors, Aniagwulisted the Okpanam by-pass, the Beneku bridge in Ndokwa East, which put a stop to the long-time use of the pontoon as the major means of transportation in the largely riverine community, the Ogwashi-Uku-Ughelli dual carriageway, and the Ayakoromo Bridge in BurutuLocal Government Area.
Aniagwu also mentioned the six-storey State High Court Building in Asaba which was started by the Okowa Administration and completed by the Oborevwori administration.

According to the commissioner, “Governor Oborevwori kept faith with the promise to complete inherited projects and begin new ones.”
While introducing new people-oriented projects across the state, the Oborevwori administration is working hard to complete sectors C1, C2, A and B of the Asaba-Ughelli road dualization project.
Mr. Aniagwu further revealed that the administration is embarking on road construction projects in Sapele, Warri South-West, Okpe, Issele-UkU and AniochaNorth, a clear indication of its resolve to connect communities across the state for greater economic development.
While emphasizing the administration’s determination to do MORE for Deltans, Aniagwu re-iterated that despite the plethora of projects across the state, Governor Oborevwori had continued to be prudent and judicious in the application of state resources as he hadnot borrowed to finance these projects.
In the areas of education and healthcare, Aniagwunoted that the OborevworI administration is facilitating the accreditation of courses in state-owned institutions of higher learning as well as revamping health facilities across the state.

As part of efforts to boost economic growth in the state, the state government is working to attract investors by revamping the industrial parks in the state and encouraging private sector initiatives to establish industries and bringing in local and foreign investors.
With the new lease of life at the information ministry, it is hoped that the developmental strides of the Oborevwori administration will continue to receive wide media coverage to enable Deltans have a true picture of the administration’s commitment to impacting positively on their lives, as well as showcasing the fulfilment of the MORE agenda in the weeks and months ahead.
