
The Orodje of Okpe kingdom, HRM Major General Felix Mujakperuo, Rtd, Orhue 1, has unveiled the ‘Okpe Development Masterplan,’ a book written by the Okpe Community leaders of thought (OCLT)which provides a roadmap to the advancement of Okpe kingdom over the next two decades.
The event, which was held on Saturday at the Udogun Hall in Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government Area, was graced by the governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by the Chairman of Okpe Local Government Council, Hon Isaiah Esiovwa.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Okpe leaders of thought (OLCT) Chief Thompson Okpoko lauded the Orodje and all dignitaries at the book unveiling, while stressing the importance of a positive developmental plan for the Okpe kingdom due to the large deposit of resources in the area and the uniqueness of the Okpe people.
The Okpe Development Masterplan is aimed at harnessing the rich potential of the Okpe area and her people, emphasizing the need for an advancement in agriculture, human capital development, employment and placing the kingdom on a strategic pedestal to attract investors.
The highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of the book, ‘Okpe Development Masterplan by HRM, the orodje of Okpe kingdom.
The Monarch hailed the Okpe leaders of thought for the initiative, stating that it is important for Okpe people to have a clear developmental path as the Palace had been doing its best to see to it that good things are attracted to the kingdom.
Other dignitaries present at the event were Chief James Augoye, member representing Okpe State Constituency in the state house of Assembly; Mr. Ejiro Jamani, State Commissioner for Environment, political appointees, Chiefs, including women and youths from across Okpe kingdom.
