
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been described as a true leader who has kept the promise of the More Agenda to the good people of Delta State with his significant investment in water infrastructure by prioritizing the needs of rural communities and ensuring access to clean and safe water.
The General Manager, Delta Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), Clement Adiotomre made this assertion during the commemoration of 2025 world water day celebration with the theme ”GLACIER PRESERVATION, ” organized by the ministry of water resources development and its line agencies, which was held at the unity hall, government house Asaba.
While highlighting the critical roles of glaciers in sustaining life circles, Adiotomre said: “As we commemorate World Water Day, let us all remember the importance of access to clean and safe water for all. Water is a basic human right and a vital resource for life. Let us work together to protect and conserve our water sources for future generations. Let us also ensure that everyone has access to clean water and sanitation services, especially in rural areas. Together, we can make a difference and create a better world for all. Happy World Water Day!”
The director of Water in the agency, Mr. Sunday Eyesare, a geologist, reiterated the need for everyone to protect, conserve and preserve water source so as to gain economic growth and healthy living, stating that since water is life, its protection should be prioritized.
He noted that though Nigeria does not have glaciers, glacier preservation’ was a serious issue that could not be overemphasized.
Highlight of the celebration was a road walk by the management and staff of the ministry of water resources development and its line agencies to government house and lectures by different resource persons on how Water sources can be maintained and preserved.
