As part of ongoing efforts to enhance environmental cleanliness and public hygiene, the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has intensified its sensitization campaign across the capital territory.
The agency’s environmental team has continued the ongoing sensitization tour which started on the 17th of March, 25, with residents and business owners to emphasize the importance of maintaining a clean environment and adopting safe environmental practices.
Leading the sensitization tour were key officials of the agency, including the Head of Environment, Mr. Isaac Nwosu; the Manager of Administration and Finance, Mr. Vincent Okwofadjeke and Mr. John Ijedie from the Investment and Business Promotions department. Accompanying them were Environmental Task Force Officers, RSP supervisors and other DSCTDA staff.
The inspection team visited several strategic locations, including Maryam Babangida Way, Summit Junction, Okpanam Road, Nnebisi road and Anwai Road from the Government House gate to Camp 74.
During the exercise, the agency took enforcement action against businesses found violating environmental regulations. The fruit shop at Summit Junction and a car wash behind the state secretariat were sealed for indiscriminate waste disposal, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to upholding environmental standards.
The Director General of DSCTDA, Mr. Patrick Ukah, reiterated the agency’s dedication to promoting a cleaner and healthier capital territory.
He urged all residents and business owners to take responsibility for their surroundings and adhere to proper waste disposal practices.
“This sensitization drive is continuous. We are committed to ensuring that everyone in the capital territory adopts a culture of cleanliness.
“A clean environment benefits everyone and contributes to the overall development of our State,” Mr. Ukah stated.
The DSCTDA encourages all citizens to support this initiative and take an active role in maintaining a clean and sustainable environment.
