
The Chairman, Delta State Post Primary Education Board (PPEB), Dr. Emmanuel Tibi has urged school principals and teachers in the state public secondary schools to discharge their duties with utmost commitment and diligence to ensure that the secondary school system lives up to the expectations of the state government.
Dr. Tibi stated this in Asaba while issuing letters of promotion to a total of 264 principals that had been stagnated on level 16 from 2014 to 2017.
He said that their elevation was graciously approved by the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as a demonstration of his resolve to uplift the welfare of the workforce, adding that the memo for such request passed through several stages
Dr. Tibi stated that the Governor’s gesture was designed to put the deserving principals in the right frame of mind to put in their very best in service delivery, reminding them that the award of their level 17 went through some processes with some stakeholders playing critical roles to ensure that the request received the needed attention from the Governor.
While admonishing teachers and principals to reciprocate the Governor’s gesture, particularly for approving the implementation of 65 years of age /40 years of service to teachers in both public primary and secondary schools, the PPEB Boss thanked the State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, the outgoing Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko and other stakeholders for their efforts in ensuring that the request for the promotion of the stagnated principals got the desired attention from the Governor.
Earlier, the State President of the All-Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Sir Christian Orakpo Ahweyevu, (KSJI) lauded Oborowvori for his administration’s resolve to prioritize the welfare of teachers, recalling that since Oborevwori assumed duty as the Governor of the state, so many things had changed in accordance with his MORE Agenda.
Ahweyevu appealed to the state government to consider a few stagnated principals that were in one way or the other omitted from the list of the level 17 awardees.
The State ANCOPSS President passed a vote of confidence on the Governor Oborevwori and lauded the State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu for her Inspiring contributions towards sanitizing the education sector.
In an interview with newsmen, some of the newly promoted level 17 principals including Mrs. Patience Ngozi Aguonye of Osadenis Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, Mr. Godson Opone of Azagba Mixed Secondary School, Issele-Azagba in Aniocha North Local Government Area, Mr. Azubike Enemuwe of Obiaruku Grammar School in Ukwuani Local Government Area , the principal of Utagba Ogbe Technical College, Kwale, Mr. Gertrude Chukwuma Ossai and their counterpart at the Niger Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, Mr. Benjamin Onyemaechi Aseyeni, said that their recognition was a welcome development and morale booster.
They noted that Governor Oborowvori had never hesitated in addressing issues concerning teachers and by extension other government workers in the state, stressing that he is a worker friendly Governor.
The principals assured the Governor of their relentless efforts and unwavering determination in supporting his administration’s MORE Agenda, even beyond 2027, saying that it was a thing of joy to be awarded level 17.
