
IBUSA- In a bid to strengthen the security architecture of the local government area, using the Ibusa community as a pilot study, the Council Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Hon. Innocent Esewezie, has met with all local vigilantes, comprising of the Anti-Cult group, Ibusa Community Peacekeepers (ICP) Man O War, Hunters, Anioma Security Special Squad and other community security parastatals with a view to reviewing their activities to meet current security realities.
The meeting, which was aimed at profiling all community security outfits within Ibusa and beyond with a view to enhancing their operations through adequate security coverage of the area with robotic drones and CCTV cameras.
While addressing the security personnel, the Council Chairman spoke on the need to affiliate various community security groups with the office of the Divisional Police Officer for proper identification, as most personnel were living ‘under disguise,’ compromising the efforts of the police and the army.
He further explained that all firearms in their possession would be scrutinized and bullets would be made available to them through the office of the Divisional Police Officer, who would supervise all of their activities as it relates to operational conduct.
The Divisional Police Officer of Ibusa, CSP Anthony Adefolalu in his remarks, charged the local vigilante members to be cooperative towards fishing out criminal elements within the community, as security remains everybody’s business, urging them to report any abnormalities that would threaten security in the communities in order to keep the communities safe.
The Council Chairman, Divisional Police Officer and representatives of the Army, proceeded to test-run the security gadgets procured to tackle insecurity within the LGA, which consisted of Robotic drones and CCTV cameras.
