In an effort to tackle the increasing number of road accidents and alleviate the suffering of motorists, renowned cleric and humanitarian, Ambassador Bishop Dr. Prophet Kingsley Majemite, popularly known as Obeba 1, has undertaken palliative repairs on a critical section of the Elume-Sapele-Benin-Warri Expressway. This road is known for its heavy traffic and deteriorating condition, which has caused countless accidents over the years.
Bishop Majemite mobilized a team of workers and resources to carry out repairs, focusing particularly on the Elume Junction in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State. The intervention involved filling potholes and fixing damaged sections of the road to improve its safety and usability. According to the bishop, the move is a “temporary but urgent measure” to address immediate dangers facing road users.
Expressing deep concern over the loss of lives on the expressway, Bishop Majemite lamented that the affected section has claimed numerous innocent lives, including promising young individuals. He said his decision to undertake the palliative repairs was driven by the need to prevent further tragedies and ensure smoother passage for motorists.
Elume Junction serves as a major transit point on the expressway and experiences heavy vehicular traffic on a daily basis. The poor state of the road in that area has long posed serious risks. Bishop Majemite highlighted that community-led initiatives are crucial in complementing government efforts and emphasized the need for citizens to be proactive in supporting infrastructural development.
“As responsible citizens, we must rise to support our communities,” he stated. He also urged corporate organizations and philanthropic individuals to emulate this gesture and actively contribute to addressing infrastructural challenges within their environments.
While addressing the broader issue, Bishop Majemite appealed to the Federal Government to prioritize the full reconstruction of the expressway. He stressed that while his intervention is a temporary relief, lasting solutions are urgently needed to prevent future accidents and loss of lives.
The bishop also took the opportunity to commend the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his proactive leadership and the remarkable work he has done since assuming office. He called on all Deltans to offer their full support to the MORE Agenda and stand behind the current administration’s developmental strides.
Bishop Majemite is highly respected not only for his spiritual influence but also for his unwavering commitment to humanitarian efforts and community development. This latest intervention adds to his growing portfolio of initiatives focused on improving lives and advancing public welfare across Delta State and beyond
