The Delta State Government has urged private media outfits to embrace innovation and operate with an entrepreneurial mindset, rather than relying solely on government support for survival.
The Commissioner for Works (Rural Road) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu gave the charge while hosting the management of Kruzz 92.9 FM Asaba led by its General Manager, Mr. Lawrence Okpevwo.
Aniagwu, an ace broadcaster, described airtime as the most important product of any broadcast medium, urging the management of the station to create value for the station’s airtime by broadcasting quality content that would attract wider listenership and translate ultimately into revenue for the station through advertisements.
The commissioner advised the management and staff members of Cruzz FM to make sacrifices by creating value for the station in order for it to soar above other competitors in the industry and sustain the vision of its founders.
Aniagwu assured that the state government is making deliberate efforts to provide a conducive environment that would enable investors, including media businesses to grow and flourish across the state.
Earlier, the General Manager of Cruzz FM, Asaba, Mr. Lawrence Okpevwo said they were in the ministry to familiarize the station with the commissioner and to partner with the state government in propagating the laudable achievements of the Oborevwori administration in the state.
Okpevwo revealed that the concept of the station was the use of 70 per cent pidgin and 30 per cent formal English in its programming, emphasizing that the strategy was to reach out to a greater number of the grassroot population in performing the traditional role of the media of informing, entertaining and educating the people.
