The Delta Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (D-CARES) program has made a significant impact on the lives of beneficiaries in Onicha-Olona community through its Labour-Intensive Public Workfare (LIPW) Unit.
For the past year, the program has engaged youths in minor works, providing economic support and stimulating growth.
Beneficiaries of the program have expressed gratitude for the opportunities it has brought. Oksuozah Chukwuma, a yam farmer, said, “Before the intervention, my farm was small, and I struggled to make ends meet. However, with the support provided by D-CARES, I was able to purchase more seed yams and expand my farm. As a result, my sales have increased, and my finances have improved significantly.”
Ofuonye Florence also benefited from the program, saying, “The D-CARES intervention has been a game-changer for me. I was able to save my salary and invest in a shop in the market in my community. This new venture has not only increased my income but also provided me with a sense of financial security.”
Samson Mokwoue, a farmer in Onicha- Olona who specializes in cassava, yam, and corn, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am very grateful to Delta Cares for this initiative. The support I received has enabled me to improve my farming activities and increase my productivity.”
