
The Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme has pledged the State’s unwavering support for the Global Fund Malaria Programme under the Society for Family Health aimed at combating the spread of Malaria in the State.
Dr. Onojaeme gave the pledge during a meeting with the Project Director, Society for Family Health Global Fund Malaria Programme, Mr. John Ocholi, and other team members in his office on Thursday, in Asaba.
He emphasized the State government’s commitment to improving the lives of Deltans and assured the Team that all necessary measures would be put in place to ensure the success of the campaign and that all households benefited from the Programme.
The Programme, aimed at controlling the spread of Malaria, will embark on a Mosquito Net Replacement Campaign scheduled to take place from Thursday, May 8th, to Thursday, May 15th, 2025.
According to the Project Director, Mr. John Ocholi, key highlights of the Campaign will see the distribution of 3.1 million nets across the State, marking the fourth mass campaign since its inception.
Mr. Ocholi while briefing the Health Commissioner, disclosed that the campaign would be conducted in two phases; house-to-house distribution that would last for seven days where households will receive tokens, and a redemption phase where households could exchange tokens for mosquito nets at designated redemption points in each ward.
Speaking further, he said 1,500 redemption points would be set up across the State for easy access, saying that the redemption phase would take place from Monday, May 26th, to Friday, May 30th, 2025.
