
Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu has recounted visible efforts of the Delta State Government towards the sustenance and enhancement of peace and security across the state.
The Commissioner made this known while delivering a lecture on the topic “Strengthening Local Governance and Strategic Communication for Effective Grassroots Intelligence and Public Safety” for students of Senior Course (SC) 47, 2025 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, Kaduna which was held at the Prof Chike Edozien Secretariat, Asaba.
According to the Commissioner, the state government has created roads linking the urban and rurals which has given security agencies access as they perform their intelligence function.
Aniagwu said that the development in the riverine areas and oil producing areas has drastically reduced vandalization of oil pipelines and has made Delta State ranked first among oil producing states in the country.
Also, Aniagwu said that engagement of stakeholders through town hall meetings to ascertain what is happening in the local communities with a view to providing solutions has also brought peace and security in the rural areas of the state.
Other strategies mentioned by the Information boss was the provision of N2.1 billion in the 2025 budget for each local government area in the state to ensure even development.
He also said that the appointment of Deltans into different political positions was deliberate as it would enable appointees to take care of themselves, others and also to give vital information on happenings in their community, adding that it is serving as even distribution of common wealth which has reduced poverty level in the state.
Mr. Aniagwu also mentioned that the state government has constantly collaborated with security agencies in the provision of security in communities and has also provided security equipment.
