Police operatives in Ekiti State have arrested a man, Abiodun Eniola, who allegedly stole a motorcycle from the dealer which he pretended to buy the bike from.
The suspect was said to have gone to the shop of a motorcycle dealer at Iworoko Ekiti, where he pretended to be a real buyer.
He was said to have negotiated and requested that he tested the motorcycle before buying, following which he eventually disappeared into thin air.
But luck ran out for him on May 10, 2025, when the operatives of the Safer Highway Unit of the state Police Command apprehended him with the brand new unregistered motorcycle during a stop and search operation along Ado-Iworoko Ekiti Road.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Command, SP Sunday Abutu, who disclosed the suspect’s arrest in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, said, “He will be arraigned accordingly.”
Abutu stated, “Investigations revealed that the suspect went to the shop of a motorcycle dealer at Iworoko Ekiti, pretended to be a real buyer, negotiated and requested that he tested the motorcycle before buying.”
His request was granted but he eventually ran away with the motorcycle.
“He confessed during investigations that he wanted to steal the motorcycle rather than buy it,” the police spokesperson stated.
