
The Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr ThankGod Trakiriowei has said that His Excellency, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State, has made plans for the engagement of unemployed youths in the state through the various programs across the MDAs in the state.
Trakiriowei gave the message in his office at the Prof Chike Edozie Secretariat, Asaba, when he hosted Members of the Society of Unemployed Youths of Nigeria (SWUYN), Delta State Chapter.
He said the state, under the leadership of Governor Oborevwori, has done a lot of Youth Engagement programs across the MDAs to engage and build the youth for meaningful development.
The Youth Commissioner hinted on the need to have the data base of the unemployed youths in the state to enable the Ministry to know the number of persons as well as the ratio of graduates and non-graduates among them.
While admonishing the group to ensure general and even registration of members for easy assessment by the Ministry in the case of the Ministry’s Youth Engagement programs, he called on the youths of the state to be industrious, creative and honest in dealing with the government in her engagement programs.
The Commissioner thanked the group for coming at the right time as Governor Oborevwori, through the youth Ministry, would ensure that all youths in the state would be engaged meaningfully for development.
The group’s leader, Mr. Emmanuel Eyarubure thanked the Commissioner for his warm welcome and effort in moving the Ministry forward. He said the group had so far registered over five thousand unemployed youths across the 25 LGAs of the state.
The Chairman emphasized the need to engage the youths, adding that by doing so, crimes, prostitution and kidnapping would stop for good.
Highlight of the meeting was the official presentation of the Award of Excellence to the Commissioner by the group Chairman and flanked by the South – South Regional Coordinator, Chief Mrs. Agberia Sikprako.
