
The Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr ThankGod Trakiriowei was on Tuesday commended by the Southern Nigerian Youth Congress (SNYC) for the support given to them during and after their election, his transparent leadership and effective management of youth in the state.
The group, led by Comr Monday Wiska gave the commendation in the Commissioner’s office when they paid him a courtesy visit at the Prof Chike Edozien Secretariat, Asaba.
Comrade Wiska said the visit was not only to appreciate the Commissioner for the support he gave them during and after their election but also to introduce the newly elected Exco of the body to him and the Ministry.
The Chairman-elect said “Commissioner, Sir, we are here to appreciate you for your kind support during and after our election. It is important that we say thank you,. Sir. We also want to introduce ourselves to you and the Ministry for identification and to pledge our support for your leadership always”
Highlighting the objectives of the body, Wiska said “the group seeks to speak for the interest of Southern Youth of Nigeria, engage in activities that would bring development among the youth in the region” among others. He assured the Commissioner of synergy in developing the youth of the state.
The Commissioner, in his usual kind gesture, encouraged the group to be united, focused in order to make a lasting impact on the lives of youths in the region.
The Commissioner assured them of collaboration and inclusiveness in the scheme of activities of the Ministry. “I am hopeful about what lies ahead and look forward to meaningful partnership with you for the good of our young people”, he said.
The Deputy Director, Youth Mobilization and Leadership, Mr Ogagan Aghogho congratulated the group for their successful election and urged them to stick to the objectives of the group for the general development of youth in the Southern Region of Nigeria.
Mr Ogagan admonished the group to ensure that similar election is conducted in the LGAs chapter and possibly in the wards. He noted that their objectives, if well-articulated, would bring about development in the region.
The elected Exco includes Comr Monday Wiska as President, Blessing John Oje as Vice President, Eghaipe Efemena as Secretary General, Okocha Afam as Special Duties and Atakele Bernard as Treasurer.
Others include Odukudu Precious as Assistant Secretary General, Edoro Jeffrey as Welfare Director, Ifeanyi Okonweze as Director Gender Equality and Nwachuku Azuka as Director of Protocol.
