
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has ‘shocked’ the entire State with his developmental strides through his MORE AGENDA.
The commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Hon. Ejiro Etacherure made the remarks during an exclusive interview with Niger Delta Legacy TV and Magazines correspondents in his office at the Professor Chike Edozien Secretariat Maryam Babangida Way, Asaba.
Etacherure said that under the dedicated leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the Bureau for Special Duties had made substantial progress in various areas, especially the building and rehabilitation of fire stations in the 25 local government areas of the State.
The Commissioner averred that in just two years of Governor Oborevwori’s administration, the Bureau for Special Duties, though the Delta State Fire Service had averted the destruction of properties worth billions of naira across the state through swift interventions occasioned by the enhanced operations of the fire service.
He opined that the Governor Oborevwori’s MORE AGENDA had seen to the quick intervention in respect of flood victims who had been displaced hitherto by the rise in water levels at their various communities.
“We have worked diligently on projects aimed at improving the welfare of vulnerable populations within Delta State. This includes initiatives targeting displaced persons and those affected by recent natural disasters, ensuring they receive adequate support and resources,” he said
“One notable program is our ‘Delta State Resilience Initiative,’ which aims to support communities affected by flooding. We facilitated the distribution of relief materials and also provided relief materials to fire victims in different parts of the state. The responsiveness and efficiency of the Bureau in these situations have garnered positive feedback from community leaders and beneficiaries alike.
We also launched the ‘Youth Empowerment Scheme’ to address youth unemployment. Through skill acquisition workshops and entrepreneurship training, we aim to equip our young people with the necessary tools to succeed, fostering a sense of independence and self-sufficiency.
Hon. Etacherure also sent a heartfelt message on behalf of the Bureau for Special Duties to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on his 62nd birthday. According to the Commissioner, Governor Oborevwori’s leadership has become a beacon of hope and progress for the state, asserting that Deltans are grateful for his commitment to improving the lives of the citizens even as his vision continues to inspire all Deltans.
