
The Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads) Hon. Reuben Izeze has expressed satisfaction at the level of work done on the construction of Orere bridge and access road but noted that there is room for improvement.
He expressed his sentiments when he visited the project site of the construction of bridge across Orere River, access roads and arterial road with spur in Orere Town in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
In his words ” I want to commend Obakpor Engineering, this is the time I had course to go across the Orere River to see if any level of work has commenced on the other side of the bridge and gladly, we were able to see that they have commenced the binding with the hope of boarding the retaining wall at the other side.
“They have covered 250 meters on the other side and they were already approaching 250 on this side.” He stated.
According to him he was informed that the pace of work was however stalled because of an unforeseen circumstance of a fault in their badge of which he has encouraged them to fix it in order to forestall further delay before the rains fully sets in.
He said that he is hopeful that by the next time his team visits Orere bridge will be able to walk from one end of the bridge to the other.
Speaking on the increased cost implication of getting sand from Kayama in Bayelsa State, he assured the contractor that he will bring the matter up with His Excellency for next line of action.
Speaking earlier the Project Engineer, Mr. Frank Uwuseba gave the assurance that they are working round the clock to fix the damaged badge and continue with work in order to cover the required grounds before the rains fully sets in.
On his part an illustrious son of the community, the most Revd. Cyril Odiboroghene Odutemu, PhD, JP, Archbishop Bendel Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Ughelli Diocese in his remarks, said that he is full of gratitude to the Government of Delta State.
He noted that the continuity of the project is a clear indication that governance in the state is a continuous process.
He further commended the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for funding the project and also commended the contractor, Obakpor Engineering, for a job well done.
Izeze noted that relative to the difficult terrain of the area, the level of work done is commendable.
He called on cooperation from the community, the contractor and government to ensure the successful completion of the project.
A cross section of indigenes of Orere Community that spoke were very excited and thanked Governor Oborevwori for bringing development to their Community.
