The Niger Delta Tricycle Riders Association (NDTRA) Delta Central and South Chapters have passed a vote of confidence on Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori for his sterling leadership qualities and commitment to the development of every part of the State with visible evidences in every ward across the three senatorial districts.
This declaration was made in a meeting with the Director General of the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) Dr. Benjamin Okiemute where they jointly resolved among other things, to ensure that fabricated attachments, the use of tarpaulin that will hide the faces of the riders or passengers as well as the riding of vehicle on roads tagged as highways by the Agency will not be allowed in the Chapters.
Prior to this meeting, the Director General of DESTMA, Dr. Okiemute has embarked on enlightenment, sensitization, and advocacy tour of the entire State where he purposely explained to all representatives of the unions to see reasons why the use of tarpaulin, fabricated attachments and undue expansion of the original size of the tricycle as not only inappropriate but unsafe for both riders, passengers and other road users and will no longer be permitted.
The D.G, however, said that they were permitted to have fabricated extension at the rear of their tricycle but must be within twelve inches as any extension more than that will not be allowed.
