A total of 400 vulnerable Deltans from across the 25 local government areas yesterday received food palliatives courtesy of the Renewed Hope Initiative of the Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
The distribution took place at the state government house premises under the supervision of the wife of the Governor, Dcns Tobore Oborevwori.
According to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the food distribution was under the social investment programme of the food outreach scheme of the initiative.
Represented by the wife of the Governor, the president’s wife reiterated that the Initiative is daily restoring hope to the hopeless in the society.
“Few months ago, this food outreach was flagged off but distributed to a selected few and today, we are distributing these food items to a larger group.
“The items to be given are 3,0000 packs of Semolina and 2,500 cartons of pasta. As we benefit from this outreach, I urge us to continue to pray that this empowerment will get to every door step in Delta State as this will help in the realization of more dividends “.
In her remarks, wife of the Deputy Governor, Ezinne Catherine Onyeme said it was beyond the distribution of food items, but that the gesture served as a beacon of hope for the collective humanity.
Represented by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs Rose Ezewu said the current administration represented a leadership that sees the people’s pain and responds in action.
The physically challenged among the vulnerable groups were the first to receive their items before others which included widows and orphans.
Each beneficiary received five cartons of pasta containing 20 packs and seven bags of semolina.
They expressed their appreciation to the Renewed Hope Initiative, affirming that the food items would make a significant difference for them.
