ASABA, DELTA STATE – Delta State is once again making headlines for a remarkable achievement in the literary world. Mr. Stephen Mokuye, a distinguished lecturer at Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, and one of the state’s finest literary talents, has been nominated for the prestigious African Christian Authors Book Awards (ACABA), organized by Christian Literature Communications (CLC) Kenya.
The nomination recognizes Mokuye’s 2023 book, I Choose To Win: Activate The Winner In You, a transformative work that empowers readers to reshape their mindsets and embrace their God-given potential as winners. The book has garnered widespread acclaim from readers across the globe for its inspiring message and practical insights.
A prolific writer, Mokuye has published seven books since his debut in 2009. Beyond prose, he is also an award-winning poet. In 2024, his poem Another Telephone Conversation was featured in Wole Soyinka: The Herald At 90: A Bilingual Collection of Poems and Essays, published by the Pan African Writers Association, Ghana, in honor of Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka’s 90th birthday.
The ACABA, a celebrated initiative by CLC Kenya, recognizes, celebrates, and promotes excellence in Christian authorship across Africa. Since its inception in 2018, the awards have supported over 1,000 authors from 13 African countries, fostering a vibrant reading culture and empowering writers through training and mentorship programs.
The 2025 ACABA Awards Gala, where winners will be announced, is scheduled for the last Saturday of November 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya. The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of literary excellence, bringing together authors, readers, and industry professionals to honor impactful Christian literature.
