
The Delta State government in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative today empowered more youths and business owners in the state.
The empowerment programme which was held at the office of the wife of the Governor, Dcns Tobore Oborevwori saw several students and business women going home with business grants and educational materials.
The wife of the Governor expressed her concern and commitment to the advancement of small and medium scale enterprises in the state.
In her words, “I am concerned about the well-being of Deltans, especially women and have put in place this program to enable you to support your families.
“Through notable individuals in the local government areas, we have carefully selected women from various communities and here we are to carry out the task.
“As you receive these items, be cheerful and pray for more of these gestures; it is my desire that more Deltans will benefit from the programs put in place at the State and Federal levels”, she remarked.
While the students received brand new U LEARNING tablets, the business women received N100, 000 cash grant each, while some were empowered with oven gas cookers and industrial grinding machines.
The First Lady further admonished the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items they had received, advising them not to sell off the items.
In her address, wife of the Deputy Governor, Ezinne Catherine Onyeme affirmed the state’s commitment to the welfare of citizens and residents of the state.
She commended the wife of the Governor for always reaching out to the less privileged in the society.
The Commissioners for Primary, Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu and Mrs. Rose Ezewu respectively, extended their appreciation to the state government for taking education and human capital development seriously.
The beneficiaries joyfully expressed their gratitude to the state government, affirming that the items would greatly benefit their businesses.
The students from different schools noted that the tablet would help them in the school work as they would read ahead and easily carry out their assignments.
