The Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon.(Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori has charged the Corps Members posted to the State to take the National Service call seriously as well as to be patriotic in all their activities in the various LGAs they would be posted to.
Gov Oborevwori, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development Barr ThankGod Trakiriowei, gave the charge during the official closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘A’, Stream 2 Orientation Course at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Issele-Uku, Aniocha North LGA.
Gov Oborevwori said the Corps Members’ attitude during the service year would determine how much the State and the Nation at large would benefit from their contributions to the society.
According to the Governor, “I urge you to embrace this call to National Service with seriousness and patriotism. Your attitude throughout the service year will determine not only what you gain from this unique experience but also how much the nation benefits from your contributions”
On the safety of the Corp Members, the Governor said Delta State is safe, peaceful and hospital. “Let me assure you that Delta State is safe. Wherever you are posted to for your primary assignment, you will experience the warmth of our people. I encourage you to respect the cultural norms and traditions of the communities where you will serve”
He appealed to them to be thoughtful, objective and constructive in their views and actions, adding that as leaders of tomorrow, they were expected to moderate their enthusiasm and avoid distractions that could derail their future or endanger their lives.
The NYSC Delta State Coordinator, Mr John Vandi T. Kwaghe commended Governor Oborevwori for his continued support to the NYSC scheme; particularly for his commitment to the ongoing infrastructural improvements in the orientation camp.
Mr. Kwaghe also commended the Corps Members for their exemplary conduct, resilience and discipline throughout the three-week orientation programme.
While urging the Corps Members to approach their postings with open minds and a sense of mission, he said their active participation in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Programme would go a long way in shaping their future.
