A large number of supporters on Sunday received the Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Rauf Aregbesola, in Osogbo, Osun State, as the party begins a membership recruitment drive in the state.
Aregbesola, who served as Governor in Osun State between November 27, 2010 and November 27, 2018, recently emerged as the Interim National Secretary of the newly formed coalition that has adopted ADC as its platform, and his visit to the state would be the first since he was appointed scribe of the party.
Dressed in green colour attire synonymous with the Aregbesola political platform, the Oranmiyan Group, the supporters of the ex-governor, had converged on the building used as a campaign office by him in Osogbo, where they waited for his arrival.
The presence of the crowd in the premises of the building located along Osogbo/Gbongan road caused traffic gridlock, with vehicles having a hectic time navigating through the area.
Speaking with PUNCH Online on their expectations from the new party, an ADC member from Ede South Local Government, Abiodun Alabi, said, “We came here with nine buses and seven motorcycles.
“We are here to show that ADC is alive and kicking in Ede South, and we are ready to take over the state in 2026.”
Another Aregbesola’s loyalist and a member of ADC from Osogbo, Kazeem Badmus, who declared that membership drive had commenced in earnest to gain new members for the party, said they have received clear instructions from the leadership of our party to begin work and bring in more members.”
